Photo Rejuvenation is a broad category used to define a particular kind of Light Therapy.

At StoneWater Medical Aesthetics Dr Elser and his team treat many skin conditions with Photo Rejuvenation—a term used to define a particular spectrum of light therapies also known as Photo Facial, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or Broad Band Light (BBL).

While these therapies have different names, they all use the same principals of healing light to improve the appearance of your skin. Photo rejuvenation therapy gradually and naturally restores an even surface and tone to any area of the body. The most commonly treated areas are those exposed to the damaging sun rays such as the face, hands, shoulders, chest and back. At StoneWater Medical Aesthetics, we use the Sciton BBL system to treat a wide variety of skin conditions such as :

  • sun damage
  • flushing
  • skin texture
  • redness
  • broken capillaries
  • brown spots
  • age spots
  • dark circles around the eyes
  • sun-induced freckles on the hands, chest, and face
  • broken capillaries around the nose
  • Excels in helping the reduction of fine wrinkles and enlarged pores.

Photo Rejuvenation Procedure
BBL photo rejuvenation therapy uses intense pulsed light  (IPL) to penetrate the outer layer of your skin and stimulate the skin cells underneath, promoting collagen production to revitalize your skin's appearance. In the treatment of skin discolorations and rosacea, the areas of unwanted melanin or hemoglobin absorb the heat energy, which breaks them up without damaging the surrounding tissue. Deeper blood vessels can also be treated simultaneously—the gentle heat causing coagulation and shrinking.

BBL photo rejuvenation therapy is a safe procedure with virtually no side effects. During the treatment, your eyes will be protected from the powerful healing light with safety shields. Your procedure will last generally between 15 and 30 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated. During your BBL photo rejuvenation therapy, you may feel your skin getting gently warm in the area of the treatment. You may also feel a light snapping sensation as the light does its work. After the procedure, you may have some slight redness around the treatment area. This will fade in an hour or two.

If you’re treating skin discolorations such as freckles, age spots, rosacea and visible blood vessels, you’ll notice in the weeks following your treatments, the shattered melanin and/or hemoglobin particles are metabolized and eliminated by your body. Little or no trace of the initial discolorations will remain.

No Hiding Necessary
BBL photo rejuvenation treatments are so gentle and non-invasive, you won’t have to interrupt your routine activities for recovery time. This safe, gentle procedure can be performed over your lunch hour, and you can return to your regular life immediately. If you wish, you can apply makeup right after your treatments.

You’ll See The Results
To achieve the best results, Dr. Elser will recommend between two and five BBL photo rejuvenation therapy treatments depending on the type of skin conditions being treated, and the size of the treatment areas. Improvement is subtle and accomplished over a series of sessions, so your friends and colleagues will notice a younger, more attractive you, not obviously treated skin.
